Shauna Coxsey - 2nd In Slovenia World Cup

British climber Shauna Coxsey yesterday bouldered her way to second place in the Slovenia round of the 2012 Bouldering World Cup. Shauna was narrowly beaten by Slovenian climber Mina Markovic at the competition at the city of Log-Dragomer, Slovenia.

Shauna's second place comes after a great performance in the previous week's round in China, where she came fourth. This is, according to Rob Adie of the BMC, the highest place by a British woman ever in a world cup event.

Shauna is the current British Bouldering Champion and has climbed up to Font 8A+ outside on rock.

The winners of the competition were Mina Markovic of Slovenia in the women's and Russia's Rustam Gelmanov. in the men's.

Nine British team members competed in Slovenia - their results are:

Women:

Shauna Coxsey - 2nd
Diane Merrick - 35th
Mina Leslie-Wujastyk - 41st
Gill Peet - 47th
Helen Haldenby - 49th

Men:

Dave Barrans - 17th
Stew Watson - 23rd
Tom Newman - 29th
Jon Partridge - 45th

The next round is set to be held in Vienna next weekend. Good luck to all the British team!

Nice one Coxsey ..tip top, hats off and what not She certainly has stepped it up a notch or 3 in recent years. I blame The Climbing Hanger personally .. they are always trying to make you climb something harder ..pushing training regimes, giving you tips and fun problems to climb … and generally willing you to do better. Do they not see that we just to climb stuff, pick flesh at our sore hands and have bit of a grumble before the pub …
