Ex World Champion (2003) and over all World Cup winner (1997, 1999, 2001-2003), Muriel Sarkany has concentrated more on rock for the last few years. After a number of 8c's and 8b+, the 38 year old has now stepped up her game one notch by repeating Ultimate sacrifice at Déversé, close to Nice.
The route, which was put up by Axel Franco in the late 90s links New power generation, 8b, straight into the all the hard climbing on Last soul sacrifice, hard 8c.
It would seem Muriel didn't have to make what would have been the ultimate sacrifice for her though. Missing the Madonna concert that is.
Other news from the same crag are 18 year old Alex Raczynski's repeat of Abyss, 9a, and Daniel Jung's second ascent of Enzo Oddo's Kick ass, 9a.
