"We've just heard from Leo Houlding and his team in Antarctica that they've successfully summited Ulvetanna.
Leo and the team set off in December to make an attempt on an unclimbed route of the 1,300m peak located in Queen Maud Land, eastern Antarctica."
Leo himself has commented on his Facebook Page:
"Hello again world. So, the north east ridge of Ulvetanna. Huge, brutal and scary. And now climbed! Job done. Great team effort. More details soon - watch this space! :-)"
Ulvetanna ('the wolf's tooth' in Norwegian) is located at 71° 51'0" South, 8° 20' 0" East in the Orvin Fjell mountains of Queen Maud Land, eastern Antarctica. The north east ridge extends for 2,000m, presenting 1,300m of vertical ascent.
More details to come, and no doubt a blockbuster movie from Alastair Lee, who was with the team.
For more details on the trip, which included Leo Houlding, Sean Leary, Jason Pickles, David Reeves, Chris Rabone and film-maker Alastair Lee, see the pre expedition press release from Berghaus here:
