Mina Leslie-Wujastyk has recently been out to the Rocklands, South Africa. During her trip, Mina climbed several boulder problems graded between 7C+ and 8A+.

Rocklands is a popular venue for boulderers from the Northern Hemisphere due to the cooler temparatures during Europe's summer. The highlights of Mina's trip were;

  • Amphitheatre, 8A+
  • The Hatchling, 8A
  • Pendragon, 8A
  • The Scorpion, 8A
  • Barracuda, 8A
  • Tea with Elmarie, 8A
  • A Splash of Red, 7C+
  • Ghost in the Darkness, 7C+
  • Macho King, 7C+
  • Weichei, 7C+ amongst other problems.

Speaking to UKC about her trip, Mina said:

"Rocklands is probably my favourite climbing venue, it's like a little bit of paradise. There are so many good lines to try and trying hard and managing to get to the top of things! The area is very special and now that access issues are being ironed out, it will hopefully continue to be one of the best venues in the world for years to come."

The Rocklands has recently had some access issues due to climbers leaving litter, and being disrespectful to the delicate ecosystem found in the area. More information can be found in this UKC News Item.

" now that access issues are being ironed out" ...anyone care to elaborate on that? From this side of the hemisphere it sounded like the access issues were just surfacing
