Super strong Japanese boulderer Dai Koyamada has made the first ascent of a new and exceptionally hard boulder problem now named Vanitas (8C) at Mt. Horai in Japan.
Koyamada, who has now climbed almost 30 problems of the 8C grade, commented:
"I completed my 4 years project at Mt. Horai, Japan on 6th February. The line is something like 'Frankenjura style' with small crimps and pockets. It was a very hard line to me and I am so glad about this ascent!"
He went on to say:
"About the grade, I felt it's 8C. I named the line Vanitas."
Hopefully we'll see Dai back in Europe soon again as he usually makes one trip every year.
