Hard Hawkcliffe Routes for Buys and SutcliffeVideo

© Buys Coll.

Hawkcliffe, a partially quarried crag in West Yorkshire has recently seen some attention from Jordan and Naomi Buys and strong local Dave Sutcliffe, with hard first ascents and repeats of Birdsong, E7 6c and Charlie Don't Surf, E8 6c.

The video shows Naomi Buys climbing Birdsong, E7 6c, the second of three E7's that Naomi climbed that week, which was reported back in May in this UKC News Item

Jordan Buys is captured making the first ascent of a short, bouldery new route; Air Hawk, E6 6c and repeating Pigeon, E6 6c and the bold and tenuous Charlie Don't Surf, E8 6c.

Dave Sutcliffe also gets onto the other side of the lens and makes the first ascent of Birdpong at E5/6 6b. All in all, an action packed video!

Several times, during the crag's hey day around the Millennium but it needs a lot of traffic to keep most routes clean. No excuse for not going to do Squirrel Crack though, one of the best E1s on Yorkshire grit.
