Chris Davies: New Angel Bay Line (8A+/B)

© Davies Collection

On Monday 2nd February, Chris Davies made the most of good winter conditions and climbed a new boulder problem at Angel Bay, North Wales named Cerulean Salt and estimated at around 8A+/B.

"The name is due to the shade of the sky that I had overhead on most sessions and also due to the salty nature of about 30 sea lions about 20 metres to my left! Such a great line, brill moves and an inspiring location."

Chris is uncertain about the grade until further repeats are made:

"I'm unsure of the grade, but it took me a few tries. It's fantastic to be back on it as I've just been so busy with three nippers and work recently. Lots of time for training on wood though during meetings, which I think may have paid off!"

Cerulean Salt is one more problem to add to Chris' impressive list of hard first ascents in North Wales, having put up numerous new lines in areas including Parisella's Cave and Crafnant.
