Daniel Woods and Dave Graham are in Varazze, Italy right now. The plan is to repeat Christian Core's Gioia, ~8C/+.

I asked Daniel if he had done it yet:

Not yet... It's close... I've done tried for my first days here.
Did Nem [~8B+] the other day but split two tips during the send.

Dave found a knee scum for the crux of Gioia, haha
He did the crux 2nd try

I did Gioia from two moves in, but with this new beta it should go next day...

I'm hoping haha

That's just so Dave finding a knee scum where no one else has...

"Knee scum: This can occur when a climber is unable to step high enough to a foothold, such that they place their knee upon the hold to take the weight of the climber for upward progress." So knee scum = mountaineer's knee.

Can't tell if that's a joke or not? Knee scum just means a shitty kneebar

I got the definition from a Google search. Doesn't sound like a knee bar. Never heard of a knee scum before. Was kind of imagining Seb Grieve on Meshuga.

It's just a kneebar where instead of being a solid 'bar', the knee is instead just scumming poorly on the rock. e.g. at 3.15: https://vimeo.com/38377140

That google definition is nonsense. Listen to abarro81, he knows his knee scums. ;)
