Rockfall at Penyghent

A rockfall has occurred at the gritstone crag Penyghent in North Yorkshire, close to the route Red Pencil Direct (HS 4b) HS 4b.

Ian Jones posted the photo below on Twitter, commenting: "Bit of a rockfall at Pen y Ghent. Looks like Red Pencil Direct's gone down to Horton."

Care must be taken if visiting this section of the crag.

That rockfall looks like it's to the right of Red Pencil which takes the leftmost corner on the face to the OH.

Yep, the rockfall looks like it's taken out one side of Brass Monkey (HVS 5a) - No doubt Red Pencil will go at some point though!

I'm amazed how Red Pencil Direct stays there. From the pic it looks like it still is though! Paul
