This summer, I'm guessing 11 July, Roland Hemetzberger managed to make the first free ascent of Delirium, an 8c multi-pitch in the Austrian Wilder Kaiser mountains, roughly 50km East by North East from Innsbruck.
Roland spotted the possible line of the route while freeing the neighbouring Scheffler/Siegert (8a+ / 6/A2 ) route nearby three years ago. Then, over the next couple of years he and friends established the new route, but due to the bad weather conditions they didn't have a chance to climb it free.
This year, the weather cooperated more and Roland managed to do a one day ascent after spending four days figuring out exactly how to do it.
The 24 year old is also a very accomplished single pitch sport climber, with several 9a's under his belt.
Here is a video about the ascent.
