Climbing The Nose - Jorg Verhoeven's Free AscentVideo

© UKC News

In October 2014, Jorg Verhoeven spent one month in Yosemite Valley, California with one goal in mind -  to make a free ascent of The Nose (5.14), on El Capitan, arguably one of the world's most famous and sought-after climbs.

In this excellent video by Louder Than Eleven productions, Jorg explains what keeps people from climbing this iconic route free and shows his stubborn determination in figuring out the hardest pitches. Tommy Caldwell and Lynn Hill narrate this inspiring story of determination and perseverance that ultimately leads to the 5th free ascent of The Nose.

Utterly insane. Climbing an 8b+/c granite feature like that after having climbed all the lower difficulties is just mind bending. Well done Jorg.
