Adventures on the Piz BadileVideo

© UKC News

Tonight's Friday Night Video follows on nicely from our recent article 'The Occasional Alpinist's Guide to the Cassin.' In this video, Keith Ball documents two climbs on the granite peak of the Piz Badile on the Swiss-Italian border, including The People's Direct and the most popular route on the north-east face, the Cassin Route or Via Cassin.

"With a poor forecast for the Chamonix area we headed to the promised sun of the Bregalia; for our now annual Alpine hit. We did not find the sun but did find some stunning Granite climbing on the Piz Badile. The Peoples Direct, a slightly esoteric choice, and the Cassin route of the six north faces fame, in a four day weather window. Excellent climbing, poor weather and a great experience."

The Cassin route is famous - it's one of the classic 'Six North Faces' - and is described everywhere. The 'People's Direct' is described in the Alpine Club 'Bernina and Bregaglia' guidebook.
