The 2015 Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival took place last week and amongst the winners were several British filmmakers and writers in the prestigious annual film and book competitions.
Winning the Creative Excellence Award was Rosie Reed Hillman with Cailleach - a portrait of 86 year-old Morag living alone with her sheep on the Isle of Harris.
Receiving a Special Jury Mention for Operation Moffat were Jen Randall and Claire Carter, a film inspired by the colorful climbing life of Britain’s first female mountain guide Gwen Moffat.
In the book competition, Jon Griffith's excellent photo book Alpine Exposures won the Mountain Image category prize, and Lake District Rock by Wired Guides and members of the FRCC Guidebooks Committee took home the Guidebook prize. Ed Douglas' article in Alpinist magazine 'Crazy Wisdom' - a reflection on the Himalaya and the effects of modern day adventure tourism in the area - won in the Mountaineering Article category.
A Special Jury mention was given to Keith Partridge for The Adventure Game: A Cameraman's Tales from Films at the Edge, an account of filmmaking in the outdoor industry.
