UKC/UKH film 'Run Forever' - directed by our very own Nick Brown and featuring ultra runner Nicky Spinks - scooped the Judge's Special Prize and came 3rd in the People's Choice Award at the Kendal Mountain Festival this weekend. The film follows the story of Nicky's successful 132-mile double Bob Graham Round around the Lakeland fells in May, ten years after being diagnosed with, and recovering from, breast cancer.

Nicky ran the 66-mile route twice back-to-back in a new record time of 45 hours 30 minutes. She became only the second person ever to complete the double in under 48 hours (fourth overall), and the first female.

This is Nick's first film award and the UKC team are delighted that his hard work and talent have been recognised. Nick commented:

'It was an immense privilege to stand up on stage with Nicky to accept the Judge's Special Prize, especially from such an experienced panel. It was also great to see Roger Baumeister there who did the first double Bob Graham. There's a lovely moment in the film where he talks about not winning any awards for doing these sports, so it was nice for both him and Nicky to get some recognition for their amazing achievements. It was also fantastic working with Lee from inov-8 and without their support it would be impossible to make films like these.'

A fabulous film... almost an object lesson in how to do a mountain related documentary. Cinematography, structure and editing all beautifully done. Sure its easier having such a delightful main lead but we have all seen bad films made on bigger characters.

I watched about 8 hours worth of films over the weekend and this was the stand out one for me. It got my 'peoples choice' vote. Fantastic!
