Papichulo, 9a+, by Patxi Usobiaga

Patxi Usobiaga has repeated Chris Sharma's Papichulo, 9a+, at Oliana, Spain. For Patxi this means his definite return to World class level.

Already a couple of weeks earlier the former World and World Cup champion made the first ascent of Patxitxulo, 9a/+, but this was only an intermediate goal on his way to the prize - Papichulo.

Patxi has climbed a few times 9a+ before, but a decade has passed since then, and more to the point, this was before his injury problems began. Now, at 36 years of age and having made a name for himself as a training guru, he is back.

In total, Patxi has climbed ~20 routes graded 9a or harder and in December 2007 he became the first ever to onsight an 8c+.

When he is not training or climbing himself, he is the trainer for some not entirely unknown people like Adam Ondra, Chris Sharma and Sasha Digiulian.

23 April, Patxi and Adam Ondra are going to attempt The Project in Stockholm.

Patxi Usobiaga is sponsored by: Black Diamond and Climbskin
