Hours: 15hrs/ week

Salary: £13.50ph

A fantastic opportunity has arisen at Mile End Climbing Wall for Shift Supervisors!

Mile End Climbing Wall (MECW) is the trading name of the charity Development through Challenge (DtC).

DtC started life as a charity called North London Rescue Commando (NLRC), set up when London was at threat of flood. They moved to the current site from North London, where they had started as a small water sports centre. In the mid-1980s a change in focus led to the formation of Mile End Climbing Wall. It became the climbing wall in London and one of the first climbing walls in England. In 1997 NLRC changed its name to Development through Challenge.

Shift Supervisor responsibilities include overseeing safe and effective daily operations within Mile End Climbing Wall, ensuring employee productivity, monitoring efficiency of all processes and creating a positive work environment for all employees. You will be briefed regularly by senior management in order to stay up-to-date with organisational changes, issues and improvements. You will be required to make operational decisions to ensure the smooth running of the centre's operations.

We are looking for someone with solid and demonstrable experience in working in a climbing wall within a similar role. You must be self-motivated and be able to deal with issues that may arise with both customers and staff.

This role will involve weekend and evening work.

We offer a range of benefits including free climbing for you and a plus-one and company sick pay.

To apply please send a current CV showing your full employment history along with a supporting statement of no more than 2 sides of A4 outlining why you would be the right candidate for this role.

Email your application to saskia@mileendwall.org.uk.

The deadline for applications is 10th February 2023 with first interviews taking place the following week.

We reserve the right to close the recruitment process before the above date if the right candidate comes along early in the process. We may also extend the recruitment process if we are still looking for the perfect person to complete our team.

Don't meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women, people of colour and people with disabilities are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At DtC we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace therefore if you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles!

Much of our work is with children and adults at risk of abuse and as such we follow rigorous child protection policies and procedures in our recruitment process. As a result, this role is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from joining us as an employee; this will depend on the circumstances of any offences.
