The Big Rock Birthday Weekend: 3rd - 4th September

On the 3rd and 4th September, Big Rock will be celebrating its first birthday. An action packed weekend is planned, with lots of events and a chance to meet some climbing celebrities. Hope to see you there!

Free Climbing Sessions

Saturday 3rd September
Time: 10:00am - 6:0pm

Big Rock Climbing Centre in Milton Keynes offers an alternative and exciting sporting activity for all ages and abilities and we are offering newcomers the chance to drop in and have a go for free. We'll even be offering discounted rated on our Beginner Intro Courses!

We will have instructors available all day to give you a free go on one of our roped climbing walls. You don't need any previous climbing experience and we provide all the equipment.

Andy Kirkpatrick Lecture: 10 Tips for Climbing El Cap

Saturday 3rd September
Time: 7.30pm

Climbing's funny man, Andy Kirkpatrick is quite simply the hottest ticket on the UK's climbing and mountaineering lecture scene. His absorbing, irreverent and incredibly funny lectures are guaranteed to captivate the audience, providing silence at the scary bits and tear inducing laughter at the funny bits!

Lucy Creamer Masterclasses

Saturday 3rd September
3 hour Movement and Technique classes
We will be running 2 sessions: 10am-1pm and 1:30pm-4:30pm.

Lucy is undoubtedly the UK's best female climber, having onsighted E8 and F8a, redpointed 8b+ and won the British Lead Climbing Championships a record 6 times.

During the Masterclass session, Lucy will cover climbing movement skills such as footwork precision, and economy of movement, climbing techniques and the utilisation of existing strengths. The Masterclasses are guaranteed to inspire and give you some top tips so why not come along and get some expert tuition from a top climber?

Summer Bouldering League Final

Sunday 4th September
Leagues 1-3 can compete between 10am - 4pm to gain the last few points. Prizes will be awarded to the top two in Leagues 1, 2 and 3 on overall points.

The Super League Final will begin at 4pm and competitors will compete directly (points will be irrelevant) for some guaranteed excitement. Prizes will be awarded to the top two.

NEW Kids Bouldering Area

During our Birthday Weekend we will be unveiling the new Big Rock kids bouldering area. Kids love to climb and our dedicated bouldering area will offer young children the opportunity to get involved in a really fun environment. Look out for the Tiger Traverse Wall and our playful freestanding boulder, Tommy the Elephant!

With loads of climbing activities going on, we know you'll be hungry so join us from 4pm for a delicious BBQ outside the climbing centre. There will be a great selection of food available, including tasty vegetarian offerings, courtesy of Big Rock Chef Neil.

We'll also have the Big Rock Mobile Climbing Wall set up outside the centre, giving you the opportunity to climb outside! The 7.3m high climbing wall features 4 different climbing faces, allowing four people to climb simultaneously so everyone will get a chance to have a go.
