Berghaus Adventure Challenge logo, 6 kbThe Berghaus Adventure Challenge is about helping people who have adventure in their heart achieve their ambitions – it's what Berghaus has been doing for over forty years. For decades, the likes of Sir Chris Bonington, Mick Fowler and Leo Houlding have been a source of inspiration for everyone in the company, providing the stories, images and drama that help define Berghaus. Now, Berghaus want to help even more people achieve their own dreams of adventure.

The Challenge is now into its second year you can see some of last year's winners here. The shortlist is chosen by a panel of experts from Berghaus and Climb Magazine and then readers have the opportunity to choose the winner online.

The November 2011 Award was won by The Trans Papua Expedition - Will Millard and Callum Fester.

The October 2011 Award was won by the Amputee Adventurers - Mark O'Leary and a team of 11.

1) Riding the tears of Everest - Darren Clarkson-King
Everest cries two rivers of tears into Nepal, the Dudh Kosi and Arun Gorges, both remote and challenging white water rivers. These rivers have seen seldom descents. In the spring Darren will make a solo unsupported descent of these rivers, back to back.

2) JW's Global Bicycle Race - World Record Attempt - Jason Woodhouse
Jason has given himself one year to go transform from a casual cyclist “weekend warrior” to a world-class endurance athlete. This will see him racing 18,000 miles around the world in an attempt to SMASH the current world record for a circumnavigation by bicycle completely self supported.

3) Cycling South America - Keith Ruffles
This will almost certainly be the first circumnavigation of South America by bicycle and will take Keith 25,000km round the continent.
