The Climbing Unit is set to open on 7th March and will be one of Britain's largest Bouldering Centres. It boasts an extensive list of facilities that should set a new standard of excellence, including over 1,100 square metres of climbing, a world class competition wall, an extensive top rope area and a lead wall ideal for introducing groups and newcomers to the sport.

The hardcore get a sizeable circuit board, campus board, steep systems board and an array of other training facilities. If you want to take a more relaxed approach there is a comfy seating area with free Wi-Fi, espresso coffee and an array of teas. As the sport is progressing so quickly the standard of climbing centres has to rise to meet the demand and The Climbing Unit will meet and hopefully surpass the ever-growing need of the climbing community.

We hope to inspire young people to take up this fast growing sport, to encourage current climbers to push themselves further and harder and to introduce a wider range of people to our sport.

Here's a few words from the owner and developers Wayne Ridal and Dan Bradley:

"We wanted to create a facility that is capable of delivering to a varied audience but at the same time provide a facility that can rival the best and train our future audience to a world class level, I pretty sure we can do this here. Quite simply it's amazing!"

For up to date information about The Climbing Unit please visit our Facebook Page, or alternatively our website (which should be up and running very soon!).

In the meanwhile here's a quick timelapse of the wall build and a guided tour by quad-cam.
