Last year we premiered our first ever climbing competition seres - it was amazing!
This year we've made it even better...
At the end of last years competition series we got some great feedback to help us make it even better this year.
- Competition Dates - This year, our competitions are spread across a variety of Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, so hopefully whatever youre schedule, you should still be able to come and compete.
- Opening Times - As well as variable competition days, this year, the competition is open ALL DAY! Depending on the day specific opening times (Weekdays 10am-10pm / Weekends 10am-8pm), the competition problems and routes will be available for you to come and complete throughout the day.
- The Finale - Points for the competition series are calculated by taking your top 3 positions from the competition series and adding it to your score in the final on 4th May. But how is the final compeittion scored on 4th May...? We'll decide on 3rd May and let you know on the 4th.
- Special Surprises - This year, we're planning to throw in a couple of special surprises to say thank you to everyone - guest speakers, hot food, live music and maybe even an alcohol license - are just a few of the things we have planned.
You'll have approximately 15 boulder problems to complete in your category.
Yes, this too! Every category will get 2 or 3 red-pointable routes that can be practiced in advance (red point routes are published on our wesbite a few weeks prior to each comp). On the day, your category will also be given a few extra routes that can only be onsighted on competition day. You only get 1 attempt to complete each route on competition day.
Dont worry, you dont have to make it to all of the competitions to win! Every competition is scored based on ranking. Your three best ranking scores will get added together to take you in to the final. On the day of the final (4th May) we'll release the final competition format and your score from this will be added to your best three other ranking scores to decide the overall category winner.
See you in September for Round 1!
