Womens Trad Festival - Climbers Like Me Press Release

© UKC Gear

Women's Trad Festival might not have been able to go ahead this year, however, we are still keen to mark our 5th year through the launch of an exciting new project - 'Climbers like Me'. Set up to celebrate and champion all aspects of our wonderful community, we wanted to show our support for climbers of all ages, abilities and genders, all over the world.

Climbers Like Me aims to shine a light on the diverse faces and voices within our community through a photo series launching later this month. Studies have shown that we are most inspired by people we can relate to - be that gender, age, ethnicity, ability or experience. Role modelling and representation is a powerful tool for change. We believe if we can see it, we can be it.

Alongside this, we want to raise money for four incredible organisations by selling a limited edition Climbers Like Me mug, t-shirt and vest. They are Black Girls Hike Retreats, Moors for the Future, Young Women's Housing Project and The Climbers Pledge. All profits will be donated to initiatives they are running. The work of each of these is centred around our core values - mental wellbeing, sustainability and accessibility. You can read more on each of the organisations below.

More about the initiatives we're supporting:

Young Womens' Housing Project provides therapeutic support for young women and children affected by sexual abuse. They're one of the only specialist services in the UK offering supported accommodation and therapeutic provision to young women and their children.

The Climber's Pledge are a nonprofit organization increasing the accessibility of the outdoors for Black, Indigenous & People of Color. They work to improve outdoor-related education and recreation while cultivating outlets for community, representation, and growth.

Black Girls Hike Healing Retreats offer a safe space for black women to enjoy the outdoors and be themselves without feeling judged or misunderstood. It's about removing barriers and challenging stereotypes and reinforcing the message that the outdoors is for everyone.

Moors For The Future restores and conserves important recreational and natural moorland. Raising awareness and educating others to love and look after our landscape, they work hard to protect our moors allowing both flora and fauna to flourish.

Just FYI - the link to the Climbers Like Me page sends you a home improvement site. Copying the text of the link works fine. Its something to do with the referral coding embedded in the link.

Sorted that. Thanks for highlighting the problem.
