DMM's Rope Range Launches

© Calum Muskett
DMM have distributed other rope brands in the UK for over 20 years, so they know the British market well and also know what makes a truly great rope. Now the Llanberis based brand have launched their own range.

We've forged an alliance with a very reputable European rope manufacturer to bring you our new collection, because we could never produce ropes to anything like the quality of our hardware without such investment that would make the project cost prohibitive. It's a concise range yet we feel it has something for everyone and we're very proud of it...

DMM Core Range

The 'Core' ropes balance technical specifications and construction techniques with value for money. Despite the entry level prices, they've still managed to incorporate more technical processes that make the ropes feel and behave better than their price tags would suggest.

DMM Pro Range

The 'Pro' ropes have been designed to handle more abuse again, be it from the climbers themselves or from environmental factors. The additional dry treatment makes them not only repel water and dust more readily, but it also makes the dynamics of the ropes work better giving better stats throughout.

Photos of new DMM ropes in action

Calum Muskett, DMM / Rab / Podsacs sponsored climber, and Rob Greenwood, DMM Northern Area Sales Representative, took some of the new ropes to the Dolomites and tested them out. See below for the pictures.

Over three days we climbed 'The Fish' on the Marmolada and 'The Brandler-Hasse' on Cime Grande. Not a bad way to go about 'testing' ropes – 55 pitches in total!

Half Ropes (aka. Double Ropes)

Half ropes are used as pairs, as a result they are more suitable for trad climbing/mountaineering where the wandering nature of the routes can create rope drag. Furthermore, having two ropes enables longer abseils making them safer when retreating off routes.

Single Ropes

A single rope is designed to be used alone. Most popular for sport climbing, indoor use, and straightforward pitches on trad climbs. Due to the limitations of only being one rope they are less ideal for abseiling.
