ROCfest: The Next Generation climbing festival 4th June, Rock Over Climbing Manchester Press Release

© Rock Over Climbing

The UK's most anticipated climbing festival is back on June 4th 2022 and it's open to everyone. A one-day spectacular competition held at Rock Over Climbing - Manchester City Centre. This is our most ambitious event by far, with 100 problems to climb, 6 hours to compete and a truly unique scoring system to bring it all together.

Divisions will be split into BMC Youth Categories, International Paraclimbing categories (bouldering only so no top ropes), Veterans and a Male/Female Open - each group will have their own set of winners with their own awards to take home.

All Para, Youth & Veteran categories will be separated out and have a 1st Place prize of £75, and 2nd Place prize of £50 and 3rd Place prize of £25. There are 32 total categories outside of the Open!

Grand Finals for the Male / Female Open category will take place in the evening, and the total prize pool for the whole event will be an enormous £11,000!

Open Prizes

1st Place - £1500

2nd Place - £750

3rd Place - £400

4th Place - £200

5th Place – £150

6th Place - £100

The problems will be set in difficulty order, with more points available on the harder climbs.  Only your top 20 scores will count towards your total; allowing everyone to climb alongside  the very best athletes in the world.

But it's not all about the points! We'll have a bunch of extras across the day including a raffle, social media competitions and some smaller physical challenges.  There will also be a trade stand set up by Psychi with a huge range of discounted climbing products.

The grand finals are taking place in the Hub, on the evening of the event; there's the option to guarantee your spectator slot when purchasing your ticket. Regardless of the type of ticket you book, everyone will get a free ROCfest t-shirt.

We've lined up some big name setters from all over the UK to take our competition to the next level. Prepare for some sensational problems set by Max Ayrton, Jamie Cassidy, Alex Fry, Dave Barrans and many more. There'll also be a number of off-piste problems mixed in with the regular comp problems; that will be your chance to show off your crack climbing skills!

Tickets now available through our website. A ticket will be required to enter the centre.
