There seems to have been a rockfall, the line of the ropes is, I think, Angola, the arete to the left is probably what is left of the crack of Mozambique. What Goes Up, Malawi and Brazzaville Beach seem to have fallen down.

That just looks like Mozambique to me, Brazzaville beach takes the groove to the left with the arete direct when it finishes, though I guess I would actually have to go for a proper look, but I'm fairly sure thats just Mozambique. I think the route that has fallen down is 'What Goes Up'

Of course it could be that there had already been a rockfall before we got there, I certainly couldn't see any room for Angola, we just assumed it was Mozambique, but it might have been Angola if there had already been a MAJOR rockfall, certainly we thought What Goes Up had dissapeared. WE assumed Malawi was those thin cracks left of the marked route, then a line just right of the arete.

32 years is a long time, but looking more closely I think Al (and Dave Hillebrandt who has earlier bur similar photos) is right - this is Mozambique. I have also climbed Angola and I think I took the thin crack just visible to the right of the rope. I'll try and get back there to check it out.
I suppose it couldn't possibly be the first case of a Culm crack closing over the years could it?!

I have been checking the routes and writing up the draft for the new guidebook. What Goes Up has gone but Malawai is still climbable though frayed at the edge, all the other routes on the slab over to an including Joker Man are sound. The line on the photograph is Mozambique. The single peg lower off/belay for all the routes can and should be backed up with a large nut/small hex.

Mozambique is still there. Climbed it yesterday.
