oooh, what grade does this go at?

Sustained UK 5b tech grade, 4 pitches, 3 overhanging.

It's actually 6a, 6a+, 6b, 6b+, 6c. It's 180m high and 5 pitches - 2 slabby, 1 vertical and 2 overhanging.

Cool shot. For a moment I did ponder it being Dome Rock near The Needles. Similar with loads of chicken heads and the odd bolt. Designer route indeed.

...except, of course it's the reverse of a dome... Now, Dome Rock is where a biker, just a bit high, rode round and round the summit in ever increasing cicles until he simply rode into oblivion, no?

Great photo, for some reason a the idea of a man made route up a structure like this is highly compelling.
The leader seems to have chosen and interesting rope technique - if the second on the rope that hasn't been clipped happens to fall surely they will swing onto the holdless and therefore unclimable section?

The leader is me. The seconds are Hilary and Ian who are going to second the pitch simultaneously. It is easier for Hilary to un-clip her rope from the quickdraws without Ian's being clipped. Ian is being very brave... If you look at a later photo of the top pitch you'll see that he has asked her to clip his rope in - just in case!

Aye - I noticed that was the case in the other photo. Just thought this was an interesting and rare case where the ground Ian would swing into might be totally unclimable!

... and in fact on that pitch it's only vertical so he'd easlily get back. However, that's not the case on the top two pitches...
