Probably not. He's compounded the awkwardness of the situation by tying in over the top of the first team.

Not much wrong with sharing a belay on a popular classic as long as the stance is big enough. Courtesy to ask mind. Never had a problem with either asking to share or let others share. He has made it awkward for you with his attachment though.
