Very awkward & scary process. With parties going both up and down, the nape of the neck is a real bottleneck on many days being too small and cramped for more than a couple of folk.
50m of rope reaches the good ledge at head height of the lowest climber allowing a competent team all up onto the cioch in one pitch. In descent I prefer to get everyone facing out and sliding down the crack immediately to the lowest climber's left with butts wedged. Leaving a long sling attached to the insitu tat alows these to then clip on while i descend to them, overtake then lead out across the neck. Whatever measures are taken this is always an impossible section to protect apart from preventing a faller from going the whole way. A good traditional bit of "just don't fall off"!
