Thin conditions or just not in condition?

Indeed! There were at least two teams climbing on it today though. The lower team were treated to a constant shower of cruddy snow debris from above!

Soloed Scabbard once, but definitely not on that day!

I was in the second of the two teams you mention. The cliff was very black on Sunday and both teams climbed Scabbard because it was about the only thing in condition. There was sufficient ice gives the slabs a good coating, the turf was well frozen and the debris you speak of was no more than is usual when climbing behind another team on any winter route. An enjoyable day was had by all and that's the important thing isn't it? A photo taken whilst on the route itself gives a much better picture of what it was like to climb. As soon as it gets approved there will be a photo in my gallery.

Can I please add that at I wasn't making a judgement as to whether the route was in conditions or not when I added this photo. The title is "Thin conditions on Scabbard Chimney".

No worries, I was just making the point in general.
