We located the top bolts and abbed down the bolted arete and managed to do 2/3 of the climb. To complete the whole climb you would have to abseil a bit to the left of the arete (looking out). However you could end up prussiking if that doesn't work out.

No, abseil in to the left of the arête as we are looking at it, so right looking out. This takes you to a large ledge just above the sea. An easy but steep rightwards traverse protected by threads takes you to a belay where your red line starts. The second pitch traverses back left above the lower traverse. I think, if I remember correctly, that's where you started?

Thanks for the correction Jon. I was asked for info so I posted my best guess.

There's something that confuses me though. When we were on it I'm pretty sure we couldn't see the big arch. (Could be mistaken of course... ) This makes me think the route isn't on that bit of the crag but further around (away from the camera). Do you have any pictures from the route looking towards the arch? Are you sure you could see it? I haven't got my photos here so can't be sure.

My best guess is you would see the Blue Grotto from the base of the climb but as soon as you traverse the overhang you are on the seaward face and it would be out of sight. The Blue Grotto isn't so awe inspiring from the other side. I have just uploaded a picture of Ken abbing down the main face (not the abb we did for prism).

Hmm, you're right, it's less spectacular. However, you should be able to see the large sea level ledge sticking out from the end of the promontory on this picture, but the crag just drops into the sea. Very strange. I'll be able to get hold of my photos taken from the ledge at the start in about three weeks. I'll have a good look and let you know. Did I maybe send one to you when we discussed this before?
