A memorable trip. We drove overland in a Volkswaggen minibus, courtesy of Bev Clark, in the interim between Greek / Turkish wars, before the overthrow of the Shah of Iran and major problems in Afghanistan and at a time of relative peace in Pakistan / India. If only the world was like that now.
We climbed on a trekking permit and made it to a peak of around 21,000 feet on the Chinese border. In my case it was very much a "Swan Song" as I emmigrated to Canada on return and never climbed seriously again.

Given what you say above about the trip being your swan song, I find it a very sad photo.

Why do you say that Jon ?

I don't know really, just my first reaction. The end of any all-consuming passion must be sad in a way. Apologies if I mis-interpreted your comments.

Not a problem Jon - I just wondered why you found it sad.
