Fun picture - awful belaying. It would be possible to stop Max decking with a tight rope and a change of position.

Agreed. Sadly, poor belaying is not uncommon when you take a look around the crags these days. Still, she is actually giving him her whole attention...

There's some 'interesting' belaying from a Vice President of the BMC on http://www.ukclimbing.com/images/dbpage.html?id=168628 (Scott will probably tell you it's fine because the leader hadn't placed any gear at the time?)
