We had set off from Llanberis without much of a plan and picked up two American girls who were hitch-hiking in the pass. They joined us on a very pleasant pub crawl, well the Pen-y-Gwrd and the Tyn-y-Coed, until closing time at 3 pm. The ladies went on their way (yes really) and we messed about on the boulders near the Youth hostel.

Well observed Brian - we didn't dress on ceremony in those days, particularly Mo. It reminds me of the time that Mo and Tony Stead called at the Pen-y-Gwrd for a beer after climbing in the Pass one day. They were greeted by the manager, in a very posh voice, with the question "Have you come for the bins ?"
Believe it or not they took it as a compliment !
