Left to right : Tony Mason, Ian Campbell, Terry Darby, Ian Cartledge, Ron James, Dickie Dwyer.
The car had been dumped on the car park, so we pushed it down the A5 to a lay-by near the tea shack and later that night we set fire to it ! It really burned well and I remember Roger Salisbury adding fuel to the fire in the form of old 78 rpm records. John Jackson, the much respected warden at Plas-y-Brenin, was driving past at the time and thinking it to be genuine accident insisted we call the police. I can't remember how we explained it to him!
They really were happy times and it seems like another world now - was it really me there or did I dream it all ?

Tony was part owner/warden and I guess he was working in the office that day or meeting visitors.

Hooligans, the lot of you! Terry Darby looks like a hard case...

Well observed Jon, Terry was indeed a hard man - an ex marine who fought in Korea and was detained for three years in a prisoner of war camp. A very unpleasant place, but he did become an expert in martial arts during his time there. It obiously affected him deeply but he would never talk about it.
Terry was the nicest guy you could ever meet and he was liked and respected by all who knew him.
He did his teacher training in Coventry just before Mo and Davey and after that I lost touch with him.

Terry is still fit, active and working as a gamekeeper in Lincolnshire! Indeed, all the possee on the car, apart from Tony who unfortunately died many years ago,are still involved in the mountains and are still in touch with each other! That includes Toy Stead who took the foto.
With regard to the antics we got up to in those days, in todays climate we would certainly have been locked up!However, what a memorable picture of very happy days!

Righto guys, just heard this photo apparently won an award, and only until recently was contacted by most involved in this caper! I'm not sure who 'boje' is but am assuming it may be Cam? If so I will be in touch soon Cam - can't rush these things!

That's me Dickie - Boje was a name given to me by Mo (who else ?) and I look forward to hearing from you.
