Taken 34 years apart. In some ways I have fared better than Avon itself which was altogether a more pleasant place to hang out all those years ago. (OK Brian in other ways I havent fared so well :-))

Happy Days!..the building visible behind the climber was the old changing rooms for the tennis courts,we used to be able to climb into the loft space and kip there.

Old, decrepit and smelling faintly of wee. And the toilets aren't much better.

This reminds me of a tale Ian Parsons told me of doing the Regular N face of Half Dome. He was bivvying on Big Sandy when suddenly from the depths of the foul chimney at the back of the ledge a lone figure emerged. It was Steve Monks soloing some sort of direct. The conversation went something like:
Ian: "Well fancy meeting you here."
Steve: "I've climbed on bog walls before, you know!"
