Classic ski run and a great day out. Appropriately the Dent du Geant is in the background and the south face was the only ED I ever led - of course it was downgraded soon after. Mo was normally much stronger than me in the Alps but this was the year after his epic with Richard on the Brenva when he got severe frostbite in both feet. So he bought these enormous double boots for protection but couldn't climb a V. Diff in them - hence I was the leader.
About twenty photos back in my gallery is one of me on the summit of Mount Baker with the same sun glasses and the hat that Mo is wearing here. I still have the hat.

Hmmm, wrap around shades, droopy moustache and white lip gloss... those were the days!
Yes indeed Jon - the shades broke after thirty years of use and the moustache is now grey, but I still use the same Labisan lip protection.

It was a great holiday deepstar and the Vallee Blanche was the highlight. However, Chamonix was very disorganised in those days (maybe still is) - we bought the lift tickets for the Grand Montets, took a number and came back two hours later when it was called !
I also recall descending a difficult couloir off the Brevent back to Chamonix. We were faffing about and my wife Hazel went ahead and skied it in great style. At the bottom she was told off by some Anglos for skiing such terrain alone. She replied that she was not really alone, but actually with that bunch of plonkers way back up the couloir !

A great photograph Boje. One that captures Mo`s irrepressible spirit!
