Photoshopped? Er, no!
In 1984 the Belgian artist Jean VĂ©rame and the local Tafraoute firemen teamed up to create one of the most unusual multi-dimensional art installation pieces on the face of the planet. Armed with 18 tonnes of blue, red, violet and white paint, they sprayed it all over a number of the granite boulders, slabs and walls in the high desert near Aguerd-Oudad, a few km south of Tafraoute. The painting was done over the course of three months. By now, the original sharpness of colour has faded but the fusion of art and nature is still mesmerising.
