Terrible photo (not mine) but I hope you find the story interesting.
The photo was taken near the Pen-y-Gwrd and I remember the occasion very well. Dave Yates and I had been called out from Og Cot one wet November night to an accident on top of the Glyders. We raced up the hill in the dark with the Thomas Stretcher and got very hot and sweaty and then got freezing cold because it took a long time to locate the accident scene. We then ran the stretcher down to the Gwrd with me on the front and Dave at the back and on arrival we found a group of people which included a press photographer. Well, Dave and I had done most of the work so we were in no mood to be greeted by a bunch of wankers ten yards from the road. On the first flash Dave let go of the stretcher and ran at the press guy to grab the camera and remove the film but the policeman intervened and calmed him down. He took another photo a few seconds later which shows an angry Yates bearing down on him and I wonder if anyone has a copy of that one - I would love to see it again. Typical of the thick skinned press he didn't seem to take offence and sent us a copy.
As a downside though I developed severe chest problems just after this and Dr Ieuan Jones diagnosed it as chronic bronchitis, a condition with which I still have problems. Looking back I'm surprised we aren't all arthritic, bronchial wrecks !

Same thing happened to me with PyG rescue team bringing three bodies off Snowden. A press photographer lifted the blanket to take a picture of the body. John Lees laid him out with one punch. Only time I got my pic on the front of the News of the World and on page three of the Mirror.
