After I put up the previous photo Martin wrote: Yes,you are right about that abseil!! It is deeply ingrained in my memory!!! I went first and, after a few metres it was a free-hanging (as clearly shown in this photo). I continued down(couldn't get back up cos we didn't carry prussic loops on abs in those days ,not like the wimps of today!!)...eventually I got to where I could touch the rock with my boot near the end of the rope, kicked off till I could swing back onto the slab, banged a peg in, belayed and brought you down (you said you closed your eyes)... followed by the others

Jcw and I differ about who was in the vicinity and who wasn't. Maybe I was seeing ghosts. We both know the 5 members of our joint expedition but if there is anyone out there who remembers us and our antics please get in touch.
