Masters. Does look like Birtles. In his defence, surely there was an aid point on Hardd, although I'm not sure whether it was at this point? I remember going past it in 1974 and being a bit shocked at not needing it (not then realising how different are ground-up first ascents, with loose rock, vegetation, etc.)
