1987, at a guess - or shortly before that. Those look like early Sportiva slippers, before they sprouted a rand.

Think you're right Ian. Looked like it was further right, but I can see it's the crackline of Step on it! Cracking crag and position, particularly since Jon Clark blitzed it a few years back. We found a few bits of rotting in situ gear, legacies of those earlier ascents. Happy days!
