We were going up to do the Innominata but the snow conditions were really poor so we turned back at the col before the route proper. Still an amazing part of the range to visit, a wild and terrifying place.

The Col de Peuterey?
I take it you approached from the Monzino hut?
You are right, it is an awe inspiring place, the sheer scale and wildness is overwhelming, Himalayan. It always strikes me how Brits prefer the Chamonix side when there is this mountain wilderness in Italy.
The East face of Monte Rosa is similarly impressive, just huge, wild and tumbled, though not quite the overall mountain wildness here.

Hard even in a good picture like this to convey the sheer monumental nature of the situation.
