No pads you say, but a hanging rope and harness on.

I top roped it first. We forgot to pull the rope down after. I wish I had as it spoils the picture. I've got a harness on as I already had it on from the toprope. I had no way to attach it to the rope. You could say toproping is cheating but it's an accepted form of ascent nowadays. Pads are most definitely cheating IF you're going to claim the route and grade. I've seen someone climb Obsession Fatale above a stack of four mats and brag about climbing their first E8. That's a joke.

In fact I DIDN'T climb Obsession Fatale on a day when my friend climbed it with pads as I don't think it's right. I toproped it clean but wasn't confident enough to go for it without pads so didn't do it at all. I have never climbed a route with pads. It's cheating.
