Al Parker good friend and fellow Alpha Club member has died.. He was a super bloke. Paul Ross

What a pity. I only saw Al Parker climb once, at Shining Clough on Bleaklow, probably a favourite crag of his. Many years later, I met him again at his beloved Stanage. The second time, we were firing historical questions at him. He answered everything with such patience and good nature. He had a lovely manner about him. ‘Alpha Males’ is one of the best things ever written about the camaraderie of climbing. And he’s left us the delicate joy of Parker’s Eliminate and so many other superb routes. A life well lived.
