Are they broken in yet?

Its one thing to have a crampon fall off, but this is whole other dimension! On the other hand, a bit of duck tape around the assemblage should see it right.

I was speculating what we would have done if we'd been on a mountain. Rucksack strap probably, with tape if we had any. I reckon that would get you down but not sure it would last for climbing

I had a pair of these and when I started to hear about this happening I was advised to put the boots in the freezer overnight then tap with a hammer to see if they shattered….I bought a pair of Scarpa Vegas’ instead.
In saying that I met a guy that had kept his crampons on all the way off Snowdon down to the car park even though the snow line was well above the road as his strap on crampons keep the boot together.

I had leather/gore text shoes disintegrate on Snowdon (winter, slushy snow), when I went to the hills first time after 10 years break. My mate had a pair of thick smart wool socks and we put them over my shoes. It was surprisingly good grip
