Why the ice screw?
Norrie Muir - 14/Apr/05
Dunno, as you can see, Bob was carrying a stack of gear...
Rhoddy Stewart - 15/Apr/05
I thought Bob was a local road sweeper, who had taken the trouble to clear all the snow off the climb.

I know, it does looks bare- but that pic was taken the same day as my other shot of Lochnagar, deceptive eh?

Magic Photo!! brings back the odour of sweat inside wet neoprene cags..not to mention the 'sair knuckles' from the terrors...(did Mr Duckworth own a waterproof by any chance?)

About 12 years ago when I was naivé aspirant winter climber, I got sold an ice screw by a Canadian bloke in pub in Glasgow that looks exactly like the one on that chaps harness - right down to the yellow tape. I wonder if it could be the same!?
TobyA - 07/Oct/05
Probably...I've still got a couple of the useless things, somewhere..
Rhoddy Stewart - 07/Oct/05
Oh the joys of checking out a route before winter sets in!
