Mo Anthoine bought an Olympus Trip 35 in Panama on his way back from one of his South American jaunts in 1972. Of course he was happy to gloat about the super low price he paid in the duty free. Well, it was exactly the camera I had been looking for and I found one in the Susan Wilding camera shop on Eccleshall Road in Sheffield. Hard to believe but I paid slightly less than Mo did !
It was indeed the camera for me and I used it until they came out with the Stylus and then the Stylus Zoom which are in the photo. I used only Olympus cameras from 1972 for thirty years until I went digital in 2002 and I was always happy with the results.

They were super - rugged and reliable. The OM1 was also a class SLR.
I used to lug a Canon SLR around - still do on occasions. Also rugged + reliable (the early ones, anyway) but oh so heavy. Being a control freak I could never get happy having a single focal length.

Olympus trip One of my early cameras too, also had an XA ,which looks like one of those in the background....a lot lighter than my current "Brick"

Every member of the Caper Montis MC had this camera and produced some stunning images on a regular basis. We used to view and discuss the results at our meetings at a pub in Accrington, which is now closed. Great camera, great days, great friends. We moved on to OM10`s and the like, still got mine gathering dust. Oh dear, how sad, what a shame, never mind!
