Why does this particular photo have such a great sense of depth [and of course exposure, as said above] - great shot, have a 5 - and the cloud bank/base really makes it for me.

Thanks! It is probably because the tour ronde and lower kuffner ridge ARE really far down! Also the light conditions were quite special, lots of moisture in the air helps give depth...
