Have you don some dodgy blurring of the background with Photoshop?

Hi Chris, there's a touch of sharpening to the climber, plus some dodging&burning to the sky/rock. Otherwise just lossy jpeg wierdness.

Hi Si, it's the sharpening that made the climber look wierd. Almost looks like he's been photoshopped in.
