A company called Treetop Trek Ltd and United Utilities who own the Thirlmere dam are applying to the Lake District National Park Service to put eight ZIP WIRES across the lake close to Raven Crag. Most locals are against this project.In the past, the LDNPS was for the ZIP WIRE in Glenridding....not good

You're right - not good at all. In fact it's a ludicrous idea which will do great damage. Pack 'em off to Blackpool.

Words fail me when a NPA even considers a blatantly commercial scheme such as this in such a location. Is that Alan Hinkes on the right by the way?

Thanks, Paul - he was on a protest walk I attended back in about 2003 against the giant Whinash windfarm above the Westmorland Borrowdale. Thankfully that got squashed by public inquiry and the land has now actually just been brought within the LDNP. This got featured last night on BBC1's Northwest Tonight. Hopefully alert more to this stupid proposal.
