Conditions that day were far from perfect ... freezing fog! The photo shows Ken Jackson attempting the then unclimbed crack-line using pegs for aid. The line was eventually climbed by the strong team of Rick Graham and Bill Birkett at VS 4c A2, to become"The Possum", but not for another 10 years!

First Ascent? News to me.
I recall doing Ying and Yang free whilst on the girdle with BB.
This was about Jan 74 IIRC, that might be part of the confusion.

The information came from the Cleveland MC archives many years ago. No one has ever made a counter claim for the first ascent to my knowledge. I'll let the current guide book writer know your comment, Cheers Tony.

Was it ever done then? Can't imagine anyone being mad enough after 1980 to even attempt this! It'd go free now mind.. Great line!
